A few weeks ago, my cousin had a baby. As she approached her due date, I started thinking about what a new mom may need in those newborn months. I thought I would throw together a New Mama Kit to send to Portland, Oregon.
Gift Idea: New Mama Kit

As a first time mom, I remember making sure I had everything ready for Rowan to come and I didn’t give much thought to what I would need or want. Rowan was three weeks early, so I didn’t even have a nursing bra to wear. Opps.
Anyways, I had already mailed a bunch of Rowan’s clothes to my cousin and I thought it would be fun to gather up some items that focused on celebrating her as a new mom.
When selecting items to include it helps to keep in mind what the new mama likes and if you have to mail it or not. My cousin loves beauty products, so I thought I would focus on convenient skin care items.
Remember there are no rules when it comes to putting together a gift basket – just have fun and the other person will love it!
1. Select a basket
Since I had to ship the New Mama Kit, I choose a simple small basket from Target. But if you aren’t shipping, you can get something a little heavier and something that fits the new mama’s decor style.
If I was giving this gift in person, I may get this wire basket from Amazon because who doesn’t like wire baskets these days?
2. Fill the Basket Up
Next, I included some lotion and lip balm. I picked up these EOS lotion and lip balm because of the packaging. Anyone else a sucker for good packaging? I love that EOS is colorful without being too flashy. Also, I love that these are small enough to put in a makeup pouch within a new mama’s diaper bag.
If I had the time, I may have bought some fun lotions from Anthropologie .
I thought I would put some facial sheet masks in the New Mama Kit. My skin was terrible after having Rowan and maybe if I had easy sheet masks available when I had a few minutes to myself, my skin would have been better.
I also included eye masks because what new mama doesn’t have tired eyes? Treat those new mama eyes! I couldn’t find a place to buy these exact eye masks online but ULTA has some that look comparable.
I know one of my new mama lifesavers was and still is dry shampoo, so of course I had to include it!
Cleansing wipes were also a must to include, since I can’t tell you how many times I went to bed without washing my face in those early days. Convenience is best, right?
I also included some body spray, you know just in case you know, you don’t want to smell like rotten breast milk like I did for 6 months.
Last but not least, I included some gourmet gummies for a little fun snack.
Hope that gives you some ideas for a fun gift for a new mama in your life! What would you put in a new mama kit?
